Ursula relocated to Indiana in 1997 due to domestic violence.  Having to uproot her life and her children’s lives is what has motivated her to commit to making a difference in the lives of homeless individuals and families as well as domestic violence survivors.  The gaps in services she personally observed has motivated her to help others and assist them in achieving their own road map towards self sufficiency.  In addition, it has motivated her to be part of the solution by applying her skills to enhance and develop community’s supportive networks to reduce domestic violence.

She earned her bachelors degree from Indiana University and was a Deans Scholarship winner which was granted to only 1 student from all IU campuses the year she received it.  In addition she was certified in 2004 thru the Indiana Commerce as a CSBG administrator, in 2003 was certified as a Family Development Specialist, and in 1999 was certified as a law enforcement instructor.  Prior to relocating to Indiana, she participated in alcohol and drug abuse education workshops and 12 step programs enabling her to develop a unique understanding of the challenges many of her clients have faced.

Ursula has held various titles and has served in various roles with non-profit organizations throughout her career.  Currently, she serves as Community Services Director of a local domestic violence agency.  In this position she spends 70% of her time as a Domestic Violence Community Educator and Trainer and 30% as a Case Manager.  She provide crisis intervention and strength based case management including safety planning, goal setting, self sufficiency, information and referral, legal advocacy and transportation as needed, and a support group facilitator.  In her spare time, Ursula enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.
