Cognitive Accountability Training

Free courtesy copy of our

NEW Curriculum for Women Who Abuse

to BIP Facilitators that complete CAT Model Training.

  • Developed by Terry A. Moore, Founder and Program Director of Nonviolent Alternatives, CAT is an innovative cognitive approach for counseling abusive behavior.

  • In collaboration with the professional filmmakers at Kaeco Productions and Derringer Productions and Post, we have produced a full curriculum series of 13 video vignettes specifically designed for counseling female abusers.

Individuals who participate in CAT Model Training are provided with a courtesy copy of our new abusive women's curriculum.  The training consists of observing two actual classes conducted on Saturday and then spending the remaining afternoon discussing the model more in depth with the founder.  To schedule to attend this training:

  • Provide us with evidence you have completed the “Duluth Model” training “Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter” OR show documentation of a minimum of 1,000 hours (equal to 20 hours per week for one year) experience working as a domestic violence victim advocate, and
  • Provide us a signed CAT Model Training Contract, and
  • Pay the training fee.

Additional Information about the training:

  • Available Dates:  Any Saturday (except holidays) by appointment.
  • Time:  9:30am to 5:00pm
  • Cost:  $550 Per Person (Includes six hours of training, one Abusive Women DVD with thirteen vignettes, and three 24" x 36" Posters).

Greenwood, Indiana is a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana.  Unless you are local, you will probably want to come to Indianapolis on Friday and stay at a hotel on the south side of town along Interstate 65 south at the Greenwood, Indiana exit.  We can pick you up Saturday morning to transport you to our office, then return you to your hotel or transport you directly to the airport late Saturday afternoon.

PLEASE NOTE:  Permission to use the Nonviolent Alternatives' Abusive Women curriculum materials (videos and posters) will only be granted to individuals that complete our CAT Model training.  Training participants are required to sign an agreement not to make illegal copies of the materials or allow them to be used by anyone that has not completed the CAT Model training with Nonviolent Alternatives.  If you plan to have more than one individual counselor/facilitator at your agency conducting a program for women who are abusive utilizing our materials,  they will each need to attend this training.  If a CAT trained individual terminates their employment with an agency, the curriculum materials go with the individual.  The rights to use our materials belong to the trained individual, not the agency where they are employed, regardless of who paid for the training.
