Cognitive Accountability Training (CAT)

Our approach complies with the most current research in evidence based programming. It is specifically designed to effectively address all types of abuse, including but not limited to; physical abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, psyhological abuse, substance abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse. Cognitive Accountability Training (CAT) is an innovative cognitive approach for counseling abusive behavior developed by Terry A. Moore, Founder and Program Director of Nonviolent Alternatives.

In collaboration with the professional filmmakers at Kaeco Productions and Derringer Productions and Post, we have produced a full curriculum series of 13 video vignettes specifically designed for counseling female abusers.

Experienced BIP Facilitators who wish to obtain a copy of our new abusive women's curriculum can do so by completing a one day training in the CAT Model with Nonviolent Alternatives.  After completion of the CAT Model training, you will receive a courtesy copy of our new.  Click here to learn more about our one day CAT Model training.

Individuals in the State of Indiana who train with us to become an Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence Certified Facilitator will also receive a courtesy copy of our abusive women's curriculum.

Curriculum materials include one Abusive Women DVD with thirteen vignettes and three 24" x 36" Posters.

Permission to use the Nonviolent Alternatives' Abusive Women curriculum materials (videos and posters) is only be granted to individuals. Individuals are required to sign an agreement not to make illegal copies of the materials or allow them to be used by anyone else. If you plan to have more than one individual counselor/facilitator at your agency conducting a program for women who are abusive utilizing our materials, they will each need to own a copy of our materials. If an individual terminates their employment with an agency, the curriculum materials go with the individual. The right to use our materials belongs to the individual, not the agency where they are employed, regardless of who paid for the materials or training.
